Paper chasing...

I imagine this will be the title of, like, 27 more posts in the months to come. I wonder if the chasing burns calories....

So this morning I had some exciting communication with the states of Florida and Kansas, asking if they'd authenticate our 36+ year old birth certificates. Any tiny mistake can trip up the whole adoption process, not to mention cost us more time and money, so I'm trying to be careful and ask lots of questions. I hope no one gets annoyed with me.

My sister-in-law took a fantastic family photo last night (for use in our dossier), no small task with three kids under the age of six! But the baby is barefoot in the photo, which might be offensive to The Powers That Be. Might have to slap some shoes on that girl and take another pic.

Update: Phooey. Babies can't be barefoot. Still a good pic, though. Thanks, Gena.

Babies can't be barefoot? But babies are always barefoot. It's like a law of the universe that as you put on the second sock, they will be taking off the first one, right?

I subscribed to your blog. Interested in learning about this process!

PS - I think we should have been better friends in college. We seem to have a lot in common, which I did not know back then. :-)

Too bad! I think baby toes are meant to display....They are just so cute! No offense taken...I'll be happy to shoot another photo next time I'm there.

So cute! Can they where shorts in the pic? I know we had to be careful of that. Something you may want to double check on. The pic is really great thought!

Melanie, you're totally correct--it will be a challenge to get L to leave anything on her feet. And I've had similar thoughts about our having things in common...let the friendship commence! :o) Yes, Lindsie, I think we probably should get a photo where we're all in formal wear, just to make a good impression.
