Update on baby X

We received an update on our little boy today!  According to orphanage staff, X is 29 inches tall and weighs 22 pounds.  I have to admit I'm skeptical about those measurements.  He's 9.5 months old, remember.  I find it hard to believe he could really weigh 22 pounds!  Maybe if he was weighed with all his clothing on. . . he's wearing a LOT of clothing in those photos.

Here's part of the report:
His CHD is slight and doesn’t affect his daily life. He is health[y] and he receives specially care from the caregiver. The caregiver only takes care of him.  He can sit alone and can stand by holding. He is babbling. He can shake his head. According to the orphanage, he is clever than his peers in same age.
Well, of course he's clever!  He's gonna fit right in.  ;o)  I'm not sure how to interpret "the caregiver only takes care of him," but sounds like a wonderful thing to me.

Look, mama!  I'm wearing plaid again!

Can't wait to see the little body under all those clothes!

Jerusha,

You probably know this already, but usually over there they don't have heat (maybe just a space heater, if anything) and they live in cold concrete buildings, and winter is pretty chilly in China. So all of his clothes are needed... they are probably also using cloth diapers and that adds a bunch of "girth" to children. He is absolutely adorable. I can't wait for you guys to get to hold him and bring him home!

I think you are right that he doesn't weigh 22 lbs. yet. Caleb was a chunk of change and I know he didn't even weigh 22 lbs at 9.5 months. They must have weighed him with his clothes and all on, just as you think.

He's so adorable! We can't wait to meet him!

Everyone I've known has been weighed with all their clothes and normally 'lose' several pounds at that first clothing change with new parents. :)

He is precious! Such a positive update. Our DD was 16.5 lbs on when we received her at 7.5 months...he's not looking as "filled out" as she did. But, boy, is he ever handsome!

Lydia is just now 21 lbs at almost 2 years old. No way he weighs what they are saying he weighs! Maybe someone made a mistake converting kg to lbs since they use kg??? Nonetheless, he is absolutely adorable and what a great update to get!

What a cutie!!!! Not that I'm a biased mommy of a precious Chinese-born son myself. : )

I've seen them weigh babies...they do so with all their layers on. So, while he looks perfectly healthy, don't worry about him weighing too much!

Did I mention how HANDSOME he is???? : )

More pictures! What a blessing! No wonder some babies have delayed motor skills! They can't move ;o). Your boy is obviously clever since he has learned how to sit up with all of that on! So excited for you!

So I have not caught up on your blog for awhile since we were in China :)! My internet has been acting up and so finally after a couple hours I can see the sweet little pictures instead of seeing a ? were the pictures were. Oh my goodness what a bundle of sweetness. My heart beats a little faster and tears come a little quicker as I see your precious little one and get so excited for you to hold him in your arms. There just isn't anything like it until you have done it. Praying God is preparing your sweet boy's little heart and yours as you wait for the day you will meet him face to face. I love watching God's plan unfold for these sweet orphans. One more will be home soon! I can't wait to watch your journey to him and back! Blessings
